The Prodigy unveil premium earphone developed in collaboration with Flare Audio

Electronic music pioneers The Prodigy have announced their first-ever audio collaboration, joining forces with British innovators Flare Audio to create The Prodigy’s own no-compromise earphone made in England.

Uniting disrupters in their fields, the project sees British music revolutionaries and cultural icons; The Prodigy’s Liam Howlett and Maxim, collaborate with the award-winning British audio brand to create a sonically advanced, new technology, patent-pending, wired earphone. Combining The Prodigy’s unmistakable aesthetic with uncompromising sonic clarity, the band were involved in every stage of the earphone’s creation, refining every detail to bring their vision to life.

New earphone technology

The British made earphone utilises new patent-pending technology developed by Flare that provides more definition from an earphone than has ever been heard before. By using state-of-the-art manufacturing technology, Flare has engineered an intricate, internal waveguide structure that removes earphone resonances. Earphone resonance occurs when sound bounces around inside an earphone, creating unwanted noise that makes music feel harsh and uncomfortable, distorting the original recording. “The earphone is laser-fused layer by layer and designed to deliver high energy sound without any loss of detail, to make sure the listening experience is uncompromised,” explains Flare’s Co-Founder and inventor, Davies Roberts.

Why the collaboration?

This marks the first time The Prodigy have ever collaborated on an audio product. Liam has used Flare earphones for over a decade in the studio and wanted to be personally involved in shaping an earphone that reflected his own sonic vision for how music should be heard. As lifelong Prodigy fans, the Flare team understood the band’s uncompromising attention to detail. Working directly with the company’s inventor, Davies Roberts, the band have co-created a sonic powerhouse.

“I’ve been testing, developing & tweaking these earphones with flare audio for over 2 years, making sure they deliver accurate sub bass, punch & the clarity I need when I’m writing the tunes…. there were no earphones out there I could trust the sound of…so Maxim and I decided to build our own from scratch” – Liam Howlett, The Prodigy

The band will release the earphones through BLK.ANT, their new creative platform dedicated to projects beyond music. BLK.ANT provides an outlet for the band to explore collaborations, bespoke products and creative ideas across design, fashion, art and culture, while keeping The Prodigy’s main channels focused on music and live.
