Lost Souls Of Saturn

Surreal Stateside techno side-project

Who they?

Lost Souls Of Saturn are renowned techno DJ/producer Seth Troxler and respected electronic artist, mix engineer and university professor Phil Moffa. The American duo’s new conceptual project combines live performance, visual art and their love of surrealism and science fiction into a heady whole.

Why Lost Souls Of Saturn?

Michigan’s Troxler, widely considered one of the world’s best DJs, has a long history in the dance underground, promoting parties in Detroit from the age of 15. He’s remixed everyone from David Lynch to Fever Ray, runs three record labels and has put out plenty of his own tunes on labels like !K7 and Hypercolour. Moffa is the boss of New York’s Butcha Sound Studios, and has engineered records for the likes of Chic and Hercules & Love Affair, balancing it out with gigs at Berlin’s Berghain and teaching production at Purchase College’s Conservatory Of Music.

Tell us more…

They make a hallucinogenic noise, part house music, part loose and freeform experimentalism. ‘World Of The Wars’ adds trippy loops and ear-catching effects to a bassy four-four groove, while ‘Holes In The Holoverse’ is a dub dipped, serpentine odyssey into deep space. Their live debut was at Zurich train station, performing inside artist Ernesto Neto’s enormous installation GaiaMotherTree, and their current ‘Holes In The Holoverse’ EP has another intriguing connection with the art world – the first ever remix by Turner Prize winner Wolfgang Tillmans. Expect more reality disrupting transmissions from their debut album, slated for June on R&S.
