Inspiral Carpets Remix

Unreleased re-rub channels DAF ahead of singles collection

The Inspiral Carpets, Manchester’s psyche pop favourites who sold almost as many Cool As Fuck T-Shirts as they did records, have a new compilation on the way. ‘The Complete Singles‘ gathers all 24 singles the band released in remastered glory and is available on double vinyl or a three-CD set, which includes a disc of remixes that collates classic, rare and unreleased remixes from across their career alongside two new unreleased mixes, from The Go! Team and Martyn Walsh (the Inspirals’ bass player) & Simon Lyon.

Check out the latter above, a remix of the single ‘Changes‘, from their 2014 self-titled album, which echoes of DAF’s ‘Der Mussolini‘ in the electro bass intro. The track was the first that was written for the album and set the tone for the rest of the sessions. At the time Walsh and drummer Craig Gill were heavily involved in dance culture, and since Craig’s death in 2016, Walsh has continued his remixing habit with Simon Lyon and the duo have remixed Sea Fever, Sink Ya Teeth, The KVB and Stolen.

The Inspiral Carpets start a major tour later this month, kicking off in Northampton on 23 March, and winding up in Norwich on 25 August.
