‘Puddledrinker’ by Manchester producer Autoflag is a real Jekyll and Hyde release, flitting between extreme joviality and abject horror. Following up ‘Doggerel’, his 2018 collection of past fragments, this first release proper is a worry for his mind. There’s the jolly, sample-based big beat of ‘Give Over’, which is juxtaposed with violent drones, enveloping bird song and chimp noises on the mad ‘Things I Lost in The Divorce’. Autoflag has crafted extreme mood music for all sorts of physical and mental collapse.
