‘The Goat’ collects tracks that cult Welsh songwriter John Mouse (John Davies) wrote, recorded and released on a weekly basis, with collaborator Phil Pearce, during lockdown. Here you’ll find fizzy electronic pop replete with 1981-vintage melodies over which Davies delivers observational epithets about invading pigeons (‘Le Pigeon’), recreating cult movies in LEGO (‘The People Vrs Charles Mitchlemore’) and the real estate market (‘Buy-To-Let Industry Expert’). Evidence that humour can be a great comfort during an existential crisis.
