Combining shorter records into a longer maxi-album might feel like a cheat from London-based producer Ryan Lee West, particularly when the second half of this package contains summer 2020’s sixth album ‘Articulation’ (the rest is 2016’s ‘Night Melody’). Yet his music is frankly sublime, and those who haven’t made the leap will find this offering cohesive and richly rewarding. From the soft, scything beats of the earlier record’s title track to the flirtations with club riffs and the epic scope of ‘Sudden Awareness Of Now’, this is contemporary electronic night music for staying in or going out.
