‘Out Of Sight‘ previews new album ‘Jimmy’s Show 2‘
Jim Noir announces new album ‘Jimmy’s Show 2‘ due November 2024 via Dook Recordings.
Last year saw the release of an incredible debut LP from his side project Co-Pilot with long-time partner in crime Leonore Wheatley (Soundcarriers / International Teachers of Pop). The group received the blessing of composer, electronic music pioneer and Yellow Magic Orchestra member Ryuichi Sakamoto, shortly before his death, in sampling his track ‘Thousand Knives‘.
Throughout this period, Noir also found the time to release 16 EPs of new music (almost) every month to his Patreon subscribers with the best cuts freshly reworked and remastered for ‘Jimmy’s Show 2‘. Noir embarked on a similar journey for the album’s precursor (‘Jimmy’s Show‘).
In new single ‘Out of Sight‘ analogue synths weave between a four to the floor backbeat, like a lost Arthur Russell disco instrumental, with a vocal melody reminiscent of a Boards of Canada / Fleetwood Mac sing off. It’s weird and wonderful pop music at its best, managing to be both mournful and euphoric.
Watch video for new single ‘Out of Sight‘ directed by French-Canadian artist Marie-Claude Dequoy and released 15 October 2024.
‘Jimmy’s Show 2‘ will be released on Noir’s own Dook Recordings label, with plans to put out other artists on the roster in the coming months. With next year marking the 20th anniversary of his debut album (‘Tower of Love‘), 2025 is shaping up to be a busy year.
