Tangerine Dream have released a lot of albums. The German electronic pioneers were so prolific that nobody quite knows how many LPs there are, though it’s thought to be around 160, all told.

The artists that live on the fringes, the forward (or sideways) thinkers, have always drawn me in. This fascination really kicked in at university when, in the early 2000s, I presented a radio show with Erotic Volvo of Birmingham wrong-pop band Misty’s Big Adventure. As a kind of musicologist of the weird, his selections were never predictable and often a revelation.

I first came upon Vic Twenty when they supported Erasure at Leicester’s De Montford Hall in 2003 and I was prepared to be disappointed.....Of course, I was wrong.

There are two types of Beatles fan in the world.
