Twinkle3 is a trio of music journalist and shakuhachi player Clive Bell, plus seasoned improvisers Richard Scott and David Ross. For their third and final album as a three-piece, we hear the alignment of Bell’s Japanese flute with self-built analogue electronic systems of Scott and Ross. ‘Opik’ is like a call-and-response between Bell’s circular technique and inquisitive modular patches, while on the rhythmic ‘Ziziyu 26946’, you detect reverential nods to classic Studio One dub mixes. Spontaneous compositions for the deep space explorers among you.
