Video Premiere: Telefís – ‘The Age Of Cling’ (Cling Clang Mix)

Telefís, the project from Jacknife Lee and the late Cathal Coughlan that scooped a double Album Of The Year accolade from Electronic Sound in 2022, have a double CD of remixes and alternative takes in the blocks. ‘Special Report’ features 22 tracks, four of them previously unreleased.

The video for Garret ‘Jacknife’ Lee’s Kraftwerk referencing ‘Cling Clang’ mix combines a bass-driven electronic groove with edited found footage from Irish television’s archives.

Tracks on the CD include the ‘Falun Gong Dancer’ EP featuring Jah Wobble, which has had over 250,000 plays on Spotify. Also included are four previously unreleased tracks as well as remixes from British duo Maurice & Charles and Irish producer Jape.

The word Telefís – Irish for Television – references Tom Verlaine’s band whose contemporaries like Talking Heads, Suicide, The Human League, The Normal, and Kraftwerk also subconsciously put their stamp on the creation of the Telefís universe.

While you wait for the double CD’s release, you can pick up the coloured vinyl limited editions of the band’s excellent two albums ‘a hAon’ and ’a Dó’ at the Electronic Sound shop.
