Ex-Sink Ya Teeth bass slinger’s new EP with WH Lung contribs

Gemma Cullingford has a new EP out on 9 august 2025 called ‘Illuminate‘.

Drawing from the pulse of early electronic music, dark disco, and 90s electronica, Cullingford explores themes of distance, desire, and introspection with cool detachment and emotional depth.

“This EP has been in the works for a couple of years now,” says Gemma. ‘A friend lent me a few synths from his vast collection. In true Gemma style, I don’t even remember what they were called! But that’s part of the magic… new instruments always spark creativity in me, especially when I don’t fully know how to use them! So I just experimented, chasing strange textures and moods. Some tracks are almost entirely instrumental to let the synths take the lead. Then there’s the collaboration with Tom Sharkett of WH Lung, where I mostly provided vocals, but it blended seamlessly with the rest of the EP. I’m proud of how unified and atmospheric it all turned out.”
