Shards of Vangelis-stye synths

After three vinyl EPs and multiple compilation appearances, Sam De La Rosa is preparing to drop his first full length LP, Another Trap, on the Rompe Hechizo label from Austin, Texas.

The album is out on May 24 and De La Rosa is sharing the album’s title track,  which pairs Tortoise-style organic grooves and an introspective soulfulness with filtered electronic edges and shards of Vangelis-style synths, exclusively with Electronic Sound readers today.

Describing himself as a ‘hybrid songwriter and experimental electronic musician’, De La Rosa uses voice, guitars, hardware samplers, synthesisers, drum Machines and self-engineered instruments to make Cold and Romantic Wave tracks and anthemic, percussive stompers.

The video was directed by Marcus Harrling, a film maker and cinematographer whose work has been presented at Berlin International Film Festival, Film I Samtidskonsten and Doc Lounge Sweden amongst others.
